New beginnings!

Ugh I have literally deserted this blog. Well actually truth be told I've been neglecting alot of things in the past few months. I am on the eve of becoming officially unemployed yet on the cusp of handing in my doctoral thesis. In the face of dwindling job opportunities I have decided that I am going to grab this opportunity.I want to use it as an excuse to explore the world of fashion and DIY in light of an also dwindling budget!

I think it's time to tell myself that I, being Irish, am not going to be a victim of the recession and all the economic doom and gloom but rather I'm going to embrace this time and try and become a product of the recession. Ugh I hate that word!

So I am going to try and use this blog as a source of inspiration, blog about outfits, DIY's, long walks, photography and whatever else I can get my hands on to get my creative juices going!

Never be the same

I showed this shredded t-shirt DIY the other day. After that I actually figured out how to improve it and make it a bit more wild so here it is, with a comparison to the Raquel Allegra one as seen on Kate Lanphear!

Shredded

This DIY has taken ages, also not easy to do at night as the concentration it requires hurt my eyes! Will probably have to wear something underneath whenever I do wear it outside because even inside I can feel a significant breeze around my mid-drift that I'm sure my mother will have something to say about!!

Also scored this ring in Penny's a week or two ago and then this very summery orange nail polish in Dunnes. It is from that cheapy brand Essence, so cheap (€1.28 for this polish)!

Idle hands

Been a bad blogger of late, been busy though, anyway not to worry, had some DIY fun today. Saw this bow on Nicki Hilton and though it was pretty cool and am always looking for a way to jazz up a boring gray sweater! Had this material lying aroudn for ages so this is the work in progress, waiting for a suitable jumper to dry on the radiator.

Also added pins to my denim waistcoat, give it a bit more edge, well as if it wasn't edgy enough!!

Heading to get some professionally clothing DIY training this weekend in the nations capital, really looking forward to it, my current abilities are hampered by inspiration block/time shortage etc etc. No more excuses! Therefore this weekend I will be finding myself at the re-dress.ie Crafternoon Tea, so very excited, what a great idea and the range of stuff covered in the day is amazing! Will post regarding endeavours I promise! In the meantime another picture from Galway last weekend, literally just missed the actually sun before it set as I was scrambling out of the car, still pretty though, must get good camera, crappy digital will suffice no more!

Finally

So finally I’ve decided its time to get off my ass and actually ‘be fashionable’ and not just talk about it! Anyone can pull together cool and inspiring images off the net so now its time to start outfit posts. I’m a little nervous bout it but really all I’m hoping to get from the experience is some motivation on a daily basis to try and emulate all the brilliant dressers I see out there in the blogosphere!! So here goes….

The second picture is a little blurry, I'll get better!! Pretty much everything I'm wearing is from Penny's, ya ya I'm a student!! Then instead of going to the gym because I was just too tired and wanted to cook a good meal for once for dinner I spent the evening messing around with tshirts!

Tshirt above is based loosely on the two above! Also working on a shredding shirt project but my god it hurts the hands!!Will post on progress soon!
