Over the Christmas myself and the family hit off for Barcelona! Was so good to get away from the snow and ice for the week between Christmas and New Years. I think I could make it a tradition! Weather was 'fresh' suffice to say a coat was required as were sun glasses!!
I hit over to London with my mother in tow over the weekend for a party in a Hilton just north of London. It was a 60th but there was a great mix of relations, good tunes and lots of dancing! A great weekend was had by all, got to see a bit of London and meet up with old friends! If only every weekend could be as exciting! The relations throwing the party are decidedly quirky so I decided to go with a skirt length that I wouldn't be used to! Added some classic make up - red lips and flicked out black eye liner and I think all in all a fun but up-to-date party outfit!
Ugh I have literally deserted this blog. Well actually truth be told I've been neglecting alot of things in the past few months. I am on the eve of becoming officially unemployed yet on the cusp of handing in my doctoral thesis. In the face of dwindling job opportunities I have decided that I am going to grab this opportunity.I want to use it as an excuse to explore the world of fashion and DIY in light of an also dwindling budget!
I think it's time to tell myself that I, being Irish, am not going to be a victim of the recession and all the economic doom and gloom but rather I'm going to embrace this time and try and become a product of the recession. Ugh I hate that word!
So I am going to try and use this blog as a source of inspiration, blog about outfits, DIY's, long walks, photography and whatever else I can get my hands on to get my creative juices going!
Ooooh my I have been the worst blogger ever. I have a good excuse though...I was in NYC!!!!!! Sooo amazing! Actually didn't do that much shopping, the boy did more than me but it was about time the tables turned. I did end up getting a few quirky bits that my wardrobe full of mainly basics is crying out for. I don't even know where to start raving about how amazing that city is, god... We were there for a week too so got sooo much done, I'll let the following pics demonstrate it a little better than I could verbally! The last pic, although not clear was taking outside the opening if Forever 21 in Times Square, in the picture are Rumi, Krystal and the Glamouri, three of my all time favourite bloggers!
Got bored waiting for Glee to come on the tv so decided to do some experimenting with my wardrobe. This is of the utmost importance of late as I am so broke and trying to save to a trip to NYC in just less than a month, whoop!Messing around with the slouchy sports look and also the socks and shoes theme which was all over the pages of Vogue this month I couldn't but be inspired to try it!
Didn't put much thought into my outfit today but because its reminiscent of what I wear most days during the week I figured I might as well document it! I do a lot of work outdoors so it's important to be comfy!
Trusty converse! I have discovered my love for another member of the 'Dream Team' that is the Paris Vogue Team that comprises of Emmanuelle Alt, Carine Roitfeld etc etc. The latest member of the team to catch my attention was Geraldine Saglio, similar to Alt in that she sticks to pretty much a basic palette of grays etc but she is always on trend and literally the coolest pregnant person I have seen in a long time!
This DIY has taken ages, also not easy to do at night as the concentration it requires hurt my eyes! Will probably have to wear something underneath whenever I do wear it outside because even inside I can feel a significant breeze around my mid-drift that I'm sure my mother will have something to say about!!
Also scored this ring in Penny's a week or two ago and then this very summery orange nail polish in Dunnes. It is from that cheapy brand Essence, so cheap (€1.28 for this polish)!
Back home early for the Easter, not all relaxing, still writing away, soooo boring! Not much planned for the long weekend other than some time on the tiles with all my girls, yay, love catching up with them, NCT resit next week and also Kate Nash gig in the Academy. Good few of us heading to that, family etc, did I mention we're related....! Braved the weather today for these over the knee boots below, whoop, River Island sale always draws me like a magnet, these were reduced from €134.50 to €60, hello bargain! Plan on teaming the below outfit with a denim shirt for a Jazz gig tonight. I can see these boots fast becoming a staple, despite entering the summer months if last summer was anything to go by I won't be swopping these for flip flops just yet!!

So I finally made it inside the door of a high street shop over the weekend, whoop! I took to cork and was well impressed with the new Opera Lane. Unfortunately both time constraints and the tightening of the purse strings meant I only came away with a few bits, mainly accessories but I did manage to bag two things that I’ve had my eyes on lately – a denim waist coat (soooo very 80’s!) and a tutu skirt! I was like a woman on a mission! Haven’t had a chance to wear either yet so no photographic evidence but I did find some pics of people (ok ok ‘celebs’) wearing denim vests, and Irish blogging celeb Whisty wearing a tutu! ;-)
Wore this to the pub to watch the rugby the last day, come on Connacht!!
Actually found this pic I took of the outfit I wore out for some pre-patricks day festivities. Have had these spotted tights in my wardrobe for a while now but hadn't a chance to wear them till now. Was sort of unsure about whether they made me look like I had some form of polka dot disease but upon reassurance from the boy I wore them out. Think I ripped them by the end of the night though-sheer tights + lots of red wine=disaster!!! Wore shoes from River Island, it was their first outting hence the over indulgence of red wine, thought it would ease the pain, thankfully they were surprisingly comfortable!! Score!
Can't get Lady Gaga and Beyonce's song out of my head, so darn good!!
Don't you just love shoes? And bags of course but shoes, to me they really make my outfit, like if I should ever dare to put on a shoe that I didn't love I think it would annoy me for the entire night! God, perhaps that's a bit fussy, but hey no rules to say I can’t be, he he!! I also have become overly fussy about heel height, I can’t bare to put my feet into anything less than four inches, which is probably ridiculous considering my latest shoe acquisition makes me stand at just under 6 foot 4 inches, ha ha! These are some of latest shoe buys, in the past two months or so, topshop, pennys and river island are my shoe destinations of choice, and I’m beginning to think the whackier the better! Anyway rant over, I’m just trying to put off doing actual work, Typical!
The blue strappy ones are my ultimate favourite, the boy picked them out! I really must be subjecting him on far to many shopping expeditions!!

Also loving my arm candy today, outfit is generally boring but comfortable, perfect for study! Ignore clearly nerdy book that is open on my table! But to complement the nerdy book is my nerdy watch, how retro, its even got a calculator, I'm an engineer, its all very tongue in cheek!!
Had a fabulous weekend relaxing/working/enjoying life in Galway over the weekend, can't get enough of that place. Travelled back for work/study this morning, certainly makes the weekend a lot longer to travel on a Monday morning as opposed to Sunday evening. Anywho. Here are some pics snapped on Sunday out Connemara, no real outfit shots bar one which is in fact pretty dark so probably hard to decipher what is actually going on! Got the scarf in Penny's, thought it had that old school 'ladies who lunch' type thing going on with it, brilliant!! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and an even lovelier (actual word?!) Was on the road today, back to the wonderful Galway that I always miss so much now that I’m not based here full time anymore *sad face*snapped these literally as I was waiting for the kettle to boil so I could defrost the car, seriously, what is with this never ending cold spell!? However, the day did improve, its one of those lovely crisp cold blue sky days now, nice!
Getting the hang of this outfit taking, its great in a way as it really gets me to actually put an effort in to the clothes I put on my back everyday, not that anyone apart from myself gets to appreciate them, the boys I'm surrounded by really just don't get me sometimes!!
A while back I was lusting over these tights, well the outfit in general in fact, on this girl. Well today, during my never ending blog browse, I stumbled across said girl here. Wow, what is it with these Scandinavian girls, they are so beautiful and stylish, jealous much!? Me? No!! Here are a few of my daily, and now daily, blog crushed from the northern reaches of Europe!
So finally I’ve decided its time to get off my ass and actually ‘be fashionable’ and not just talk about it! Anyone can pull together cool and inspiring images off the net so now its time to start outfit posts. I’m a little nervous bout it but really all I’m hoping to get from the experience is some motivation on a daily basis to try and emulate all the brilliant dressers I see out there in the blogosphere!! So here goes….
The second picture is a little blurry, I'll get better!! Pretty much everything I'm wearing is from Penny's, ya ya I'm a student!! Then instead of going to the gym because I was just too tired and wanted to cook a good meal for once for dinner I spent the evening messing around with tshirts!
