New beginnings!

Ugh I have literally deserted this blog. Well actually truth be told I've been neglecting alot of things in the past few months. I am on the eve of becoming officially unemployed yet on the cusp of handing in my doctoral thesis. In the face of dwindling job opportunities I have decided that I am going to grab this opportunity.I want to use it as an excuse to explore the world of fashion and DIY in light of an also dwindling budget!

I think it's time to tell myself that I, being Irish, am not going to be a victim of the recession and all the economic doom and gloom but rather I'm going to embrace this time and try and become a product of the recession. Ugh I hate that word!

So I am going to try and use this blog as a source of inspiration, blog about outfits, DIY's, long walks, photography and whatever else I can get my hands on to get my creative juices going!

Monday effortless

Didn't put much thought into my outfit today but because its reminiscent of what I wear most days during the week I figured I might as well document it! I do a lot of work outdoors so it's important to be comfy!

Trusty converse! I have discovered my love for another member of the 'Dream Team' that is the Paris Vogue Team that comprises of Emmanuelle Alt, Carine Roitfeld etc etc. The latest member of the team to catch my attention was Geraldine Saglio, similar to Alt in that she sticks to pretty much a basic palette of grays etc but she is always on trend and literally the coolest pregnant person I have seen in a long time!

New friend!!

Soo excited!! Got my first proper pet this weekend, had a dog when I was much younger but this is the first thing I've ever had to look after myself, she's a beautifully cute little rabbit!! Calling her Swifty-partially in homage to Michael Swift on the Connacht Rugby team but mainly because she is so damn quick when I let her out of the hutch!

Been a bold blogger of late, trying to write up a paper, start more experiements, find a job for the future, grrr, so its literally been baggy pants and hoodies for the last while. Plus I haven't purchased a single item in at least two weeks which, believe me, is a new record! One, perhaps unlikely, contender for winter style icon of my life is Ashlee Simpson. I have actually long since harboured a secret love for her style. Yes yes it’s true, she manages to mix all the right elements of punk and lady which I adore and she is not one of these celebrities constantly wearing heels, that really irks me! Currently residing in NYC as she completes a stint on Broadway as Roxie Harte (e, no e?!) in Chicago she has been spotted stepping out in the following ensembles! Some looks I’m definitely going to take some creative inspiration from given the temperatures in her place and mine must be about similar, right?!

Cooooold

Stranded due to the weather and working from home/library I've decided to pull together some pics of inspiration I picked up over the Christmas while at home enjoying some guilt free uninterrupted relaxing time!! A few new style icons have cropped up namely the aforementioned Taylor from the Rachel Zoe Project. I'm also really enjoying, and have been for a while actually, the style of Kim Kardashian (well actually I suppose technically its the style of her stylist Monica Rose http://monicarosestylist.blogspot.com/ ) and also French Vogue's Fashion Director Emmanuelle Alt. She is often pictured on Tommy Ton's jakandjil.com. Her style is so simple, tshirts and jeans with killer heels and jackets.

Style crush

Being at home over the holidays have given me ample time to find new shows to watch in bulk online. My latest obsession is The Rachel Zoe Project. Given their accents seriously bug me I continue to watch for one reason only and that is Taylor Jacobson, Rachel's style associate. Her style is amazing, so simple but just well put together with the right amount of accesories. In the words of Rachel herself 'I die'!!
